Abstract

The lecture highlights the use of polymer optical fibers (POFs) as sensors in selected applications like structural health monitoring in geotechnical and civil engineering, composites monitoring, healthcare monitoring and personnel protection. The results achieved in these applications fields in the framework of several German and European projects will be reviewed.
