The modern world, configured on the paradigm of norm and discipline, is now interpreted by means of Benjamin’s notion of exception. Exceptionality is political and manifests itself in the globalized world as militarized forces. Lund focuses on the paramilitary phenomenon to explore how it acts upon contemporary life, invisible and naturalized. The author seeks to confront culture and violence throughout this complex political dynamic.
