Bárbaros en casa: domesticidad y poesía catalana

Abstract

Beauty and fear sometimes lie together, and they wait for us at home, nearer to the bone than we may think. This article contains a short journey through contemporary Catalan poems (by well known authors like Jacint Verdaguer, Joan Maragall or Joan Salvat-Papasseit, and also by more recent authors like Margarita Ballester or Quim Espanol) “with children.” Poems where children, like uninvited barbarians who had come to live with us, are angels and monsters, they are and are not what we are, how we are.
