Without any claim to exhaustivity, this essay offers an overview of recent cultural history. Given that any attempt to cover the subject in its entirety would be futile, the text begins with an introductory section that raises the issue and proceeds to a second section of sector-wide assessments in which the author evaluates and weighs up the main strands in the profound transformation that has led to the rise and growing centrality of cultural history. From there, the third section concludes with a specific treatment of changes introduced by women’s history and its feminist perspectives, a crucial theoretical vector in the current construction of discourses around subjectivity
