Objectivos: los clubes de lectura virtuales son una actividad idónea para fomentar la lectura y, a la vez, una excelente herramienta de prescripción lectora. Este artículo pretende obtener una visión de la situación actual de este tipo de clubes, con el objetivo de poder identificar las principales características, puntos fuertes, carencias y su proyección de futuro. -- Metodología: encuestas enviadas a conductores de clubes de lectura virtuales. Se han hecho preguntas sobre los aspectos organizativos de los clubes y su funcionamiento y también sobre la valoración de sus conductores. De esta manera los datos cuantitativos se complementan con los cualitativos y permiten captar vislumbrar la situación actual de estos clubes. -- Resultados: se ha obtenido una visión general de la situación real de los clubes de lectura virtuales, las dinámicas que se generan y se han planteado posibles propuestas de cambio. Aunque los clubes tienen un buen número de inscritos y herramientas para funcionar, hay aspectos a mejorar para que esta experiencia virtual sea satisfactoria y perdurable. Objectives: Online book clubs are an ideal way to encourage people to read and an excellent tool for making book recommendations. This article offers an overview of the situation of online book clubs and identifies their main features, strengths, weaknesses and long-term objectives. -- Methodology: A number of book club hosts and organizers answered a questionnaire about how their clubs worked and how successful they thought they were. In this way, the researchers were able to combine quantitative and qualitative data to make a more comprehensive study of the current state of online book clubs. -- Results: The researchers draw some general conclusions about the current situation of online book clubs and the trends they are responsible for. They then suggest how clubs might improve their organizational design to ensure that their popularity with the general public becomes more lasting.
