Abstract

Diese Studie untersuchte die hydrogeochemischen und hydrogeologischen Eigenschaften der Grubenentwässerung aus stillgelegten Steinkohlebergwerken im südlichen Ruhrgebiet, Deutschland, unter Verwendung eines multimethodischen Ansatzes. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das Grubenwasser zirkumneutral war. Chemische Verwitterungs- und Ionenaustauschprozesse steuern die Grubenwasserchemie. Süßwasser wurde hauptsächlich im südlichen und zentralen Teil vorgefunden, Brackwasser hingegen im nordöstlichen Teil. Saisonale Schwankungen der Wasserqualität waren weniger ausgeprägt als die Unterschiede zwischen südlichen und nordöstlichen Probenahmestellen. Die Ausfällung von Fe-Phasen kann zu einer Mitausfällung von Spurenelementen führen und die Freisetzung gelöster Metalle begrenzen. Rezentes Regenwasser ist die Hauptquelle und speist das Grubenwasser. Tendenziell wurden im Herbst die niedrigsten Grubenwasserabflüsse, zwischen Winter und Frühling die höchsten Abflussraten beobachtet.

This study investigated the hydrogeochemical and hydrogeological characteristics of mine drainage from abandoned coal mines in the southern Ruhr area, Germany, using a multi-method approach. Results indicate that the mine water was circumneutral. Chemical weathering and ion exchange processes control mine water chemistry. Freshwater was mostly distributed in the southern and central parts, whereas brackish water was distributed in the northeastern part. Seasonal variations in the water quality were less pronounced than the differences between southern and northeastern sampling locations. Fe precipitation can lead to co-precipitation of trace elements and limit the release of dissolved metals into the solution. Present-day rainwater was the main source and recharged for mine water. The lowest mine water discharge rates tended to be observed in autumn, whereas these values were the highest between winter and spring.
