The adaptation of the Cervantes novelLos trabajos de Persiles y Sigismundamade by the playwright Rojas Zorrilla is a good example of a generic transfer. In this case, the playwright’s version differs in many aspects of the Cer-vantes narrative, probably due to the demands of the reception of a theatrical work intended for a courtly audience. These peculiarities influence his writing and the choice of the dramatic genre.
