An annotated bibliography of research related to the Dubowitz Assessment of Gestational Age is presented. The introduction explains the usefulness of the Dubowitz system as a tool to assess gestational age and the need for such an assessment. Materials reviewed include descriptive literature and a videotape of the evaluation, studies which compare the accuracy of the Dubowitz assessment to that of various other assessments, and several studies which propose alternate assessments to the Dubowitz exam. Also presented are studies which explore the use of the Dubowitz assessment to calculate the gestational age of twins and commentary related to these twin studies.
