Building teams

Authors: Jillian Rodd;

Building teams

Abstract

Although teamwork is considered to be an important aspect of work in most organisations, building and becoming a team is not an easy task. Many people assume that because a group of people work together, for example as early years practitioners in settings, as members of committees or governing bodies or as members of Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships, they automatically become a team. In fact, it is a delicate interplay between manager and staff that requires concerted and ongoing effort by everybody to galvanise a group of individuals into an effectively functioning and cohesive team.
