
This article provides an outline of pathophysiology of the skin and discusses the function of emollients and how they work on dry skin. With many different types of emollients on the market, nurse prescribers can become overwhelmed with choice, and budgetary pressures may cause patients to lose preference of choice. It is important nurses aim to provide good education and empower patients to use products that suit both their skin and their lifestyle.
