Clinical governance and assessing and managing clinical risk

Abstract

Joshua worked in paediatrics and was concerned about the frequency of injuries caused to babies as a result of intravenous fluids being pumped into the tissue. It appeared that the mechanical pumps were not sufficiently sensitive to cut out when the vein tissued and there had been several cases where it appeared that serious harm had been caused to a baby.
