Abstract

Assistant director of patient services, Ron Grey RGN, was the liaison officer with a computer firm for the automated processing of all patient records. He was asked to explain to a group of nurses the significance of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the legal requirements in respect of access to and use of the computerized records.
