Over the last few years, the two Home Alone motion pictures have made both a star and a millionaire of its main character actor Macauley Culkin. The success of the first film was constructed around a storyline of parental failing, abandonment and child vulnerability. As adults, we could identify and empathise with the home alone child as he struggled, often in adversity, to save himself and his family against exploitation and the bad guys.
