
The assessment of quality versus quantity or length of life using assessment tools such as QALYs can have implications for often costly treatment, with many of these implications having an ethical component. This article will briefly explain what a QALY is, placing this within notes on the meaning of quality, quality of life versus length of life and quality of life and financial costs.
