Abstract

I came to live in Wales 21 years ago with my husband and two young daughters. In that time I went from being a lollipop lady for a primary school in the village to being a childminder. I then became a receptionist for a GP in the town. Five years later the GP retired and the surgery was taken on by another practice. I now work as a healthcare assistant (HCA) in a busy practice with two GPs and one nurse practitioner providing care for 3000 patients.
