Megaeventos: a alquimia incontrolável da cidade

Abstract

Este artigo analisa os desdobramentos provocados pelos megaeventos na sociedade contemporanea. Verificamos que as Exposicoes Universais do seculo XIX e, modernamente, a Copa do Mundo e os Jogos Olimpicos pro- duzem impactos sociais, cujos ecos escapam ao previsivel. Mesmo efemeras, as aglomeracoes massivas e os conteudos espetaculares resultam em ondas incontrolaveis que fazem pulsar o coracao das cidades, para o bem ou para o mal. Palavras-Chave: Megaevento.
