Utilização de Excursão Virtual Geológica na Divulgação Científica: Geologia dos Arcos Neoproterozoicos no Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

Este texto relata a experiência de elaboração de uma excursão geológica virtual, disponibilizada gratuitamente por meio do Google Earth Web, destacando a relevância dessa ferramenta na compreensão da história geológica da área de estudo. A proposta integra o projeto de extensão “Geociências na Era Digital” e tem como objetivo democratizar o acesso ao conhecimento geológico por meio de recursos digitais interativos. O roteiro é acessado por meio de um link e conduz o usuário por afloramentos estratégicos do noroeste fluminense, com o apoio de fotografias, mapas, descrições geológicas e visualizações em 360°, facilitando a compreensão da geologia local. A iniciativa combina ciência, tecnologia e inclusão, oferecendo uma alternativa acessível às atividades de campo presenciais e um modelo replicável em outras regiões geológicas. Espera-se que essa experiência contribua para a popularização do acesso virtual aos afloramentos, beneficiando professores e estudantes em contextos de ensino e pesquisa.Palavras-chave: Excursão Geológica Virtual; Google Earth Web; Divulgação Científica. Utilization of Virtual Geological Tours for Scientific Outreach: Neoproterozoic Arcs Geology in Rio de Janeiro This article presents the experience of creating a virtual geological excursion using Google Earth Web in the region between Cantagalo and Italva, RJ. It highlights the importance of this tool in understanding the area's geological history. Access to this excursion is provided through a link, allowing for an interactive visit to strategic outcrops, with features such as photos, detailed descriptions, and 360° visualization. Presented at the 32nd UERJ Sem Muros event, the project garnered interest, being accessible via a mobile app. The virtual approach offers a dynamic and accessible way to explore rocks and landscapes, enriching geological teaching and research and promoting deeper interaction with study materials. Hopefully, this initiative will popularize virtual outcrop access, benefiting both teachers and students in field activities and subsequent study.
