Abstract

Pierre Clastres perguntava, em um artigo publicado em A socie-dade contra o Estado: de que riem os índios? Pergunto, por analogia: e de queeles têm medo? A resposta é, em princípio, simples: eles riem e têm medodas mesmas coisas, aquelas mesmas apontadas por Clastres – coisas comojaguares, xamãs, brancos e espíritos, isto é, seres definidos por sua radicalalteridade. E eles têm medo porque a alteridade é objeto de um desejo igual-mente radical por parte do Eu. Esta é uma forma de medo que implica ne-cessariamente a inclusão ou a incorporação do outro ou pelo outro comoforma de perpetuação do devir-outro que é o processo do desejo nassocialidades amazônicas. Partindo de um mito taulipang sobre a origem doânus (órgão que costumamos associar ao medo), também um mito daespeciação e, no caso, da origem das diferentes corporalidades, o artigo en-vereda por uma discussão em torno do “perspectivismo ameríndio”, passan-do por mais uma analogia, desta vez entre os perigos da sujeição envolvidosnos encontros sobrenaturais e a experiência do indivíduo moderno peranteo Estado. A questão que emerge é como, nos regimes perspectivistas, é pos-sível se deixar investir pela alteridade sem que isto se torne um germe detranscendência.
