Mobilidade pendular e transformações econômicas na Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é demonstrar como se manifestou a mobilidade pendular na Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro (RMRJ) nos dois momentos históricos, retratados nos Censos Demográficos de 1980 e de 2010, do ponto de vista das transformações econômicas nesse território. Se por um lado, o processo de periferização mostra-se como elemento da metropolização, por outro, para compreender a evolução da dinâmica metropolitana em termos da distribuição e movimentação de pessoas e atividades, é preciso analisar a sua estrutura econômica. Através de dados sobre ocupações no mercado de trabalho exercidas por trabalhadores que fazem mobilidade pendular é possível contribuir para a análise sobre as transformações econômicas na região metropolitana. Observa-se que enquanto as atividades industriais se retraem neste território, as atividades de serviços se expandem. Os dados e análises foram produzidos na pesquisa de tese de doutorado da autora Martinho (2023) realizada no IPPUR/UFRJ.
