El caso Galileo es más famoso ejemplo del encuentro entre ciencia y Fe. El debate se centró, entre otros, en el campo de la epistemología y la historia de la ciencia. El artículo busca mostrar que las pretensiones galileanas de interpretar la hipótesis heliocéntrica de modo realista no constituyeron una novedad, sino que se enmarcan en la mejor tradición astronómica ptolemaica. Además, se argumenta que la hipótesis copernicana no inauguró, a causa de la introducción del movimieno terrestre, una nueva etapa de conflicto entre la astronomía y la física, sino que tal conflicto existía, al menos, desde tiempos de Ptolomeo.
