Efeito de inseticidas botânicos sobre a mortalidade de Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) em plantas de tomateiro

Abstract

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) destaca-se como uma das principais pragas do tomateiro na atualidade. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência do uso de extratos vegetais como método de controle de lagartas de T. absoluta em plantas de tomateiro. Os extratos de neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss), timbó (Lonchocarpus negrensis Benth), Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f. (Aloefertil®) e tabaco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) foram aplicados sobre as folhas dos tomateiros e, para o grupo controle, aplicou-se água. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, composto por cinco tratamentos e cinco repetições. As pulverizações ocorreram cinco dias após a inoculação das lagartas neonatas e a mortalidade foi avaliada aos três, sete e 10 dias após as aplicações dos tratamentos. O produto comercial Aloefertil® apresentou baixa eficiência de controle (menos de 25%). Os demais tratamentos apresentaram eficiência de controle maior que 80% no início das avaliações, atingindo 100% de eficiência no controle de lagartas de T. absoluta aos 10 dias após a aplicação. Os resultados demonstram potencial dos extratos vegetais testados para o controle de lagartas de T. absoluta como uma estratégia interessante para reduzir os danos causados por esta praga.
