Psychooncology in Poland

Abstract

Psychoonkologia to interdyscyplinarna dziedzina medycyny, która zajmuje się psychologicznymi aspektami choroby nowotworowej. Psychoonkologia jest zarówno subdyscypliną onkologii klinicznej, psychiatrii, psychologii klinicznej jak i psychologii zdrowia. Psychoonkologia pojawiła się na świecie w latach 70tych. Za twórcę tej dziedziny uważa się Jimmie Holland, szefową Katedry Psychiatrii i Nauk Behawioralnych Centrum Onkologicznego im. Sloan – Kettering w Nowym Jorku. W Polsce zagadnieniami psychoonkologicznymi od roku 1992 zajmuje się Polskie Towarzystwo Psychologiczne. Mimo dynamicznego rozwoju psychoonkologii oferowana w Polsce pomoc psychologiczna dla osób chorych na nowotwory w ramach ubezpieczenia zdrowotnego jest niewystarczająca. Podstawowymi zadaniami przed jakimi stoi polska psychoonkologia to: zdefiniowanie zawodu psychoonkologa, usamodzielnienie administracyjne zawodu, wyodrębnienie świadczeń psychoonkologicznych w ramach ubezpieczenia zdrowotnego a także określenie standardów opieki psychoonkologicznej w Narodowym Programie Zwalczania Chorób Nowotworowych. W wielu krajach na świecie coraz większą rolę odgrywa telemedycyna w psychiatrii oraz telepsychologia, w tym telepsychonkologia. Również w Polsce podejmowane są działania w tym zakresie. Zapotrzebowanie na specjalistów psychoonkologii w Polsce ciągle wzrasta.
