Abstract TiO2 nanotube arrays prepared by the anodization of Ti plate exhibited underwater superoleophobicity. The surface almost completely repelled the oil droplet in water, even after storage in dark for one week under ambient conditions. The TiO2 nanotube arrays fabricated on a Ti mesh were found to be useful as oil–water-separation filters.
