Abstract The crystal structure of tribromo(dibenzyl sulfide) gold(III) has been determined. The crystal belongs to the triclinic system, with a=7.002(1), b=7.949(1), c=17.244(2) Å, α=88.83(1), β=79.52(1), and γ=66.35(1)°, with the space group P\bar1 and with Z=2. The complex has a square-planar coordination geometry with 3BrlS donor atoms. The bond lengths of the three Au–Br coordinations are in the range of 2.41–2.43 Å.
