Abstract Iodobenzene was obtained by a reaction of benzene with molecular iodine in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in oxygen atmosphere in the presence of vanadium salt as a catalyst. The method affords a new aromatic iodination process in which benzene is iodinated directly with molecular iodine.
