Abstract The infrared absorption spectra of HCONH·NCOH· Na, CH3CONHNCOCH3· Na, CH3CON·HNCOC6H5· Na, and C6H5CONHNCOC6H5· Na and their N-deuterated derivatives have been examined in the rock salt region. The characteristic frequencies of the ions (RCON·HNCOR′)- have been obtained, and the influence of an electronic charge on the amide frequencies has been discussed.
