This paper describes the utilization of the pressure and flow pattern existing around a vehicle when it is in motion. Methods by which these flow patterns can be made visible are described and the results of visual observations are discussed. As a result of these observations most suitable air inlet and outlet positions are established and the results of airflow measurements indicate that a substantial increase in the volume of air entering the bus was achieved. In conclusion a design philosophy leading to optimum conditions is explained.
