Fejer theorems on compact solvmanifolds

Abstract

Jeder \(L^2\)-Raum auf einer kompakten Solvmannigfaltigkeit \(G/ \Gamma\) zerlegt sich eindeutig in eine abzählbare orthogonale Summe primärer Komponenten, \(L^2 (G/ \Gamma) = \bigoplus^\infty_{n=1} {\mathfrak H}_n\) für eine gewählte Numerierung. In früheren Arbeiten, z.B. von J. Brezin und L. Richardson, ist die Frage studiert worden, ob die orthogonalen Projektionen \(P_n:L^2(G/\Gamma)\to{\mathfrak H}_n\) Stetigkeits- und Glattheitseigenschaften erhalten. Hier wird am Beispiel zweier Klassen dreidimensionaler Solvmannigfaltigkeiten (im wesentlichen die einzigen, wenn man von Nilmannigfaltigkeiten absieht) untersucht, ob ein Satz vom Fejérschen Typ gilt, d.h. ob für passende Linearkombinationen \(S_k\), \(k\in \mathbb{N}\), der \(P_n\) und stetige Funktionen \(f\) auf \(G/\Gamma\) die Folge \(S_k(f)\) gleichmäßig gegen \(f\) konvergiert. Die Antwort ist positiv bei den Mannigfaltigkeiten, die zur Bewegungsgruppe der euklidischen Ebene korrespondieren, und negativ im anderen Fall. Das Studium des zweiten Falles erfordert diverse Instrumente aus der klassischen (kommutativen) Fourierschen Analysis, z.B. Sidonsche Mengen und idempotente Maße.
