
This study investigates the impact of oil prices on the financial soundness of airline companies during the period 2006–2017. Using the OPEC oil price as an indicator, this study found that a rise in oil prices has a negative impact on an airline company’s financial soundness. The price of oil price affect the cost function, because oil price is considered to be the biggest component in the cost structure of airlines. Therefore, airlines should always anticipate changes in oil prices in order to maintain their financial well-being.
