
In May 2008, the SEG executive committee approved official policies in response to restrictions placed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury upon governments of certain countries and/or individuals residing in those countries. These policies mainly deal with the way SEG may officially interact with individuals in OFAC sanctioned countries and primarily involve membership, publishing, and scholarship.
