Rulison Field is a basin-centered gas accumulation with a long production history dating back to the 1960s (Figure 1). Production is mainly from tight gas sandstones in the Williams Fork interval (Figure 2). Natural fractures significantly enhance the relative permeability to gas. Generally, fracture stimulation techniques have been applied to the tight gas sands, and yet their productivity is largely dependent on how the hydraulic fracture contacts natural fractures in the completion process.
