Using seismic data to do exploitation Or exploration under a salt dome overhang requires careful analysis of the seismic technique because of the steeply-dipping reflectors adjacent to the dome and the lensing effect of the salt overhang. A study was performed which integrated seismic modeling, data acquisition, interpretat ion processing and and determined that the salt overhang can be correctly imaged on the seismic section along with the horizons under it provided the appropriate data acquisition and processing techniques and procedures are followed.
