Abstract A study was made of the progressive development of structure and metalophilia of the axillary nodes obtained from fetuses of various weights. Metalophil cells were rare in fetuses weighing less than 1000 Gm., while the adult pattern of metalophilia was not observed until the fetus approached 2000 Gm. The findings were discussed in terms of their relationships to perinatal death.
