Abstract

AbstractLa vejez es una de las etapas del ciclo vital que genera condiciones que pueden conllevar a alteraciones en la calidad de vida de las personas. Es por ello que dentro de la actuacion del Terapeuta Ocupacional, se hace necesario el diseno y realizacion de actividades que promuevan el mantenimiento de habilidades de autonomia e independencia en el adulto mayor. La conservacion de las habilidades mentales superiores, es uno de los predictores del envejecimiento activo y por ende de las condiciones de salud mental. De esta forma, la realizacion de actividades tendientes a conservarlas y estimularlas, debe basarse en fundamentos, principios y tecnicas que ademas de responder a las necesidades cognoscitivas, a sus intereses y motivaciones, genere sensacion de bienestar y productividad.
