AbstractGrain-growth experiments have been performed using high-purity zone-refined zinc. The simple growth law D = (Kt)1/2 applies over the temperature range 360 – 415°C.It was found that the measured activation energy for grain growth is purity sensitive. The activation energy obtained, using zinc of highest obtainable purity, was 7.7 ± .6 Kcal./g atom.
