(MAOIs) may be especially effective in the treatment of bipolar depression that is refractory to tricyclic antidepressants, especially depression with anergic features (7). There are no studies comparing the efficacy of MAOIs and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) in the treatment ofbipolar depression.
