Abstract

En los estudios comparativos acerca del 'negrismo' se suelen resaltar las diferencias entre Luis Pales Matos y Nicolas Guillen: diferencias que indudablemente existen pero que, en un principio, no son de indole programatica, sino que arrancan del medio en el que se movia cada uno y el que les deparaba recursos diferentes para realizar su proyecto comun, que era el de satisfacer sus ansias de poeta vanguardista. El 'negrismo', que en el caso de Pales y Guillen se distingue de su proyecto de poesia '(afro)cubana' y '(afro)antillana' respectivamente, se conceptualiza como un movimiento que se materializa a traves de un imaginario 'tropicalizado' y 'tropicalizante', el cual inventa al negro mediante estrategias metaforicas y metonimicas, cual "invocacion ritualizada de alteridad". (Gates 1992)
