</script>In this article the question of artistic diversity is raised in connection to developments in cultural policy from the seventies until today. The case study of the Danish system of local theatres is used to examine some of the problems connected to this objective and its implementation as well as the relationship between developments in policy and in the field of theatre.
I artiklen analyseres spørgsmålet om kunstnerisk mangfoldighed i lyset af den kulturpolitiske udvikling fra 1970´erne til i dag. Med udgangspunkt i egnsteaterordningen undersøges såvel problemerne med den kulturpolitiske målsætning og dens implementering som forholdet mellem den politiske og den kunstneriske udvikling.
