Labyrinthine Concussion

Abstract

The mechanism of the damage of the inner ear due to labyrinthine concussion was studied by analysis of the temporal bone vibrations due to experimental head injury and exposure of the skull to the sound conducted to the labyrinth by bones of the skull. In the authors’ opinion, the labyrinthine concussion and deafening of the inner ear by sound conducted to the inner ear by bones of the skull are the same physical processes with different causes.
