<i>Borrelia burgdorferi</i>, the etiologic agent of Lyme disease, was the topic of an international conference in Stockholm which assembled 500 scientists from all over the world. About 300 oral and poster presentations revealed many new details on the complex life history of this bacterium, its molecular characteristics, the clinical consequences of human and animal infections, new diagnostic procedures and therapeutic regimens.
