In certain areas the rate is very high reaching 673/100,000/year for women and 596/100,000/year for men in the Brisighella Heart Study. The average cost per event during the first 3 months is about 6,000 Euro: a general cost higher than 1,000,000 Euro/year is reached only for this phase.
