Anorexia nerviosa y atrofia cerebral en adolescentes

Abstract

Fundamento y objetivo La incidencia de atrofia cerebral en la anorexia nerviosa y su relacion con parametros nutricionales no estan bien establecidos. Pacientes y metodo Se revisaron las historias de 55 pacientes. A 47 de ellos se les realizaron una resonancia magnetica cerebral y un estudio antropometrico y nutricional. Resultados Se encontro atrofia en 10 pacientes (21,2%) de los 47 casos estudiados. Los pacientes con atrofia cerebral tenian unas medias de edad y de porcentaje de perdida de peso mayores que aquellos sin atrofia(p = 0,014 y p = 0,001), respectivamente, pero menor pliegue del triceps (p = 0,001). Conclusiones La atrofia cerebral es frecuente en pacientes con anorexia nerviosa, especialmente en casos con grave perdida de peso y de paniculo adiposo.
