Abstract

Según el Nobel de Economía Paul Krugman esta es la ciencia de la desesperanza. La labor de los macroeconomistas consiste en presentar al país las opciones reales de crecimiento económico, gusten o no. A todos nos alegraría que la economía chilena se recuperara rápido y mantuviera un ritmo de crecimiento sano, robusto y sostenido. Sin embargo, enfrentamos severos desafíos en el escenario internacional que pueden enfriar las positivas y quizás acaloradas expectativas para este año y el próximo. El problema que se tiene cuando las expectativas son irreales o sobredimensionadas es que las decisiones que se toman en relación a ellas necesariamente serán incorrectas, y por lo tanto la situación puede empeorar aún más.
