This paper is a discussion of data which have been obtained on polymers of ethylene over a wide molecular weight range. Following a brief description of the methods used in grading or identifying these polymers, specific properties are discussed. Data are given for a number of mechanical properties and their variations with molecular weight are shown. In the section on spectral transmission information is given on the transmission characteristics in the electrical, infrared, visible, ultraviolet and x‐ray portions of the frequency spectrum. Data on the solvent resistance of the polymers are presented both in respect to their solubility in various solvents and their resistance to various liquids as measured by the degree of swelling. The effect of acids and alkalies is reported by noting the change in physical properties after contact with the several acids and alkalies. The data on weathering show the change in power factor after South Florida exposure and illustrate the importance of the type of pigmentation used.
