Rapid, Sequential Renal Blood Flow Scintiphotography

Abstract

With the use of the Anger Scintillation Camera, the injection of a small bolus containing a large amount of radioactive tracer makes possible visualization of major vascular pathways as well as of the blood supply to certain critical organs, such as the kidney. The technique has been applied to a number of renal problems, which include mass lesions, injury, hypertension, transplantation and infarction. The latter area has been particulary interesting since life saving surgery has been performed after the scintiphotographic study indicated occlusion of major vascular pathways.
