Abstract

The history of the generic names Conoplea Pers. and Exosporium Link is traced and many of the early species names are explained from type or authenticated collections. Conoplea, typified by C. sphaerica, replaces Streptothrix Corda. Streblocaulium Chev. is probably a synonym of Conoplea. Six species and one variety of Conoplea are illustrated and described.
