Abstract

A broad set-theoretic model for consensus methods is presented. Within the framework of this model, a very general characterization of the median rule as well as various types of quota rule and polynomial rule are obtained. The model encompasses those situations where a single consensus object is achieved, as well as those in which a multiple consensus is allowed.
