Abstract

Perhaps it is my age, but I was amused by part of the editorial on ‘The risk from African swine fever’ ( VR , 3 November 2018, vol 183, p 515) by Suzanne Jarvis. Jarvis referred to the prescient commentary piece by Chris Oura in 2013 on the risk posed by the African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in Eastern Europe, in which he warned that care should be taken not to import pig products from infected areas or feed uncooked products to pigs.
