I READ with interest the letter from John Grieve ( VR , December 15, 2012, vol 171, pp 629-630). May I add a perspective as a UK graduate (Edinburgh, 1993), a former partner of a large veterinary and referral group in the UK, and a former chair of the Australasian Veterinary Deans Committee? Two new veterinary schools have been founded in Australia within the past decade, bringing the total to six, which serves a population a third of that of the UK.
