Clomiphene citrate (Clomid - Merrell) has recently been introduced to treat failure of ovulation. It is chemically related to chlorotrianisene (Tace - Merrell), a non-steroid synthetic oestrogen, and also to triparanol (MER 29 - Merrell), an inhibitor of cholesterol synthesis. The introductory advertising has been admirably restrained and informative.
